Presidential TURKEY Pardon??

Today our President pardoned two turkeys to go and live a happy long and fulfilling life at . . .

( keep on reading!)
This is a tradition that dates back to the Truman days and they even have a section of the White House site dedicated to the event. Check it out HERE.
Now I like politics, news, events. . .you name it! but I got to be honest I had NO IDEA this happened. I mean hello check out Truman the reason for this season celebration. This has been going on for a while. . .Where have I been?
So this year Pumpkin and Pecan (the winning turkey names voted on the White House Website. . .so tech savvy) were pardoned on the eve of Thanksgiving and here is a bit of what President Bush had to say of their future. . .
Pumpkin and Pecan have an exciting trip ahead of them: Later today, they will fly to Disneyland aboard “Turkey One.” (Laughter.) Pumpkin will be the honorary Grand Marshal of Disneyland’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Together these birds will gobble the rest of their days in “The Happiest Place on Earth.” I just hope they stay humble there. (Laughter.)

My favorite might be this video of how Pumpkin and Pecan spent their last night before their Pardon ( which may I remind you includes Disneyland AND then in the Frontierland section where you can pay them a visit )

The lucky birds — one, the official Thanksgiving turkey, the other an alternate — spent the night at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel two blocks from the White House. Their stay included room service, a special meal prepared by the executive chef, and mini-bar stocked with — of course — Wild Turkey.

So as we eat our turkey tomorrow let us remember that it was not as fortunate as Pumpkin and Pecan but it sure is YUMMM! Yay for TURKEY and dressing and sweet potatoes and green bean casserole and cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie and you get the point!

Happy Thanksgiving my Friends.
