Hello from India! We arrived in India last night after a good long flight just in time for bed. But before that we had the adventure of taking a cab to our hotel for the night in New Delhi. Shaun, Becky and I had a driver that must have sensed our love of music or he didnt like our accents cause he decided to BLARE his music as we were trying to talk and figure out Where we were going. It made for quite the introduction and I thought it was only fair to share a quick little clip with you. Cause I mean what are friends for?
This morning we flew to Kolkata where we will stay the rest of the time here. We drove around the city and its an amazing sight. . . an overload of the senses I . still . cant . believe . I . am . here! This afternoon we went to see Mother Teresa’s Home where she lived and served for 40+ years. Seeing her room and the desk where she wrote most of her letters was an image I will never forget. Hanging on her dresser was a handwritten note that read
” My Vocation is MY Joy”
and that rang true as you read about her life and walked where she walked. They have a small room “museum” that you can walk through next to where she is buried. We walked down the street to visit two of the orphanages she began and it was amazing to see that the work she started so long ago still growing. . .250 babies in this orphanage being loved on by the other sisters and volunteers. . . heartbreaking but beautiful. We weren’t allowed to take many photos ( Unless you were downright disobedient like SOME people I know) so here are a few of the day. And that SOME body does have a great post about the day so be sure to check it out.
And another view of Kolkata from the day!
