Tilt Shift Your Photos aka Make’em Miniature

I went to an art show a while back where an artist has perfected the use of Tilt-Shift photography with different cityscapes, landscapes, peoplescapes etc.

Now if only I could find his little promo card so I could share it with you. But alas, that goes with the great clean of ’09 that is currently taking place in my house.

back to topic back to topic.
Tilt Shift can be done with the camera movement and a crazy lens device but also with post processing. The later, which is what we will do, usually results in a miniaturizing effect on a photo. ( I sound soooo techy in my head right now) so to the shifting we go.

First, before you experiment on your own watch this little video to see how Tilt-Shifting can be used in videography. And please note the film title. . .

Bathtub IV from Keith Loutit on Vimeo.

And Now check out this Tilt-Shift Maker site to upload a photo of your own and turn it well, miniature!

I experimented with a some of my latest india photos for you to see.
certain photos work better than others ( especially ones with people or subjects way in the distance) so be sure to play around. And check out their flickr group for more examples!

Now have fun tilt-shifting the day away!
I am thinking this one is my fav even though its not totally tilt-shifted out. . .
