These streets are not their home. . .

So often I walk the streets surrounding our Compassion projects and various songs play through my head

Sometimes its the song that’s playing on a radio in a nearby house that can be heard through the streets

This day as we rounded the corner as surreal as it was

“When You Wish Upon a Star”

was playing.

I let my flesh start to doubt, start to think. . .

Where do “Dreams come true” here??

But then other songs enter. Songs that quickly turn to prayers.

Prayers over the streets covered in trash and mud.

Songs about the Kingdom that turn to Prayers about the Kingdom.

The song that continues to be my prayer these days is  John Mark McMillan’s

How he loves Us

Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden,
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realize just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.

And oh, how He loves us so,
Oh how He loves us,
How He loves us all

I am reminded that these streets are covered by His Love

The Streets with tin front doors and cardboard walls

He Loves us All

These Streets are not their Home.

Thanks again for traveling with us this week and for Sponsoring a child

CJ - I am reminded of the song… “Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world, red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in his sight, Jesus loves the little children of the world”

I also noticed in the midst of such bad surroundings, the creative, bright colors that shone through. It seems where there is the darkest of environments, the Lord shines the brightest with light and color! The children had such a bright light in their eyes, smiles and even dimples.

You have a gift that is to be commended. The Lord has blessed you and you are returning the blessing for His glory. I see His glory all over these pictures in the colors, light and these children’s faces! Thanks for sharing.

Steve Jones - Overwhelmed not by your pictures but by your words this time. Absolutely rocked me. This place is not our home. If there is one thing I see and learn over and over again on these trips it’s that this place is not our home. The injustice of it all makes me so angry and I just want to cry out, please Lord take us home now. Make it all stop.

Thanks for all the years and the tears. We have shared a few.

Ann Voskamp - “God is love — Now Experience It.”

And oh… how He loves us… loves US! LOVES us!

And no — for none of us — these streets are not our home.

So why do we invest so much into these homes, these streets? When we could store up all our treasures in heaven? In the eternal….

Woman, you are a holy wonder and a gift from God!

Thank you, thank you, thank you….

Singing with you!
