May 9, 2012 - 12:16 pm

Jill Foley - Keely – what I love most about your posts is how you group your photos to tell a story. How you find a theme through color and group those together. How you capture images that say so much more than words could possibly say.

Amy Savage - Oh my heart. You capture in photos what really can’t be captured adequately in words. God is among the least, the orphan, the widow, the poor…you can see His presence etched in every face. Thank you for seeing with spiritual eyes and taking us in to where He dwells. Beautiful.

Amsterdam (airport) for a day. . .

We left Nashville and headed to Detroit to meet up with our other bloggers. . .

I twittered out this pic thinking this was the next Origin / Destination part of our journey but. . . .

We sat on the runway for almost 3 hours in Detroit and by the time we left we knew we would be arriving in Amsterdam but  we would miss our flight to Kilimanjaro.

{ this is where the AWESOME travel team at Compassion comes to the rescue!. . . Thank you CONNIE}

As we flew they worked Oh So Hard rebooking us!!

As we took off before I fell asleep I couldnt get over how the moon looked!

I thought the moon looked bigger last night come to find out tonight it will be the biggest it will be all year. SUPERMOON night!

So it was practicing last night.

If only the iphone could show the craters. Cause I promise you could see ’em. That extra 30,000 ft in the air helps with that.

When we arrived we switched our tickets and prepared for a day at the Amsterdam airport. . .

And Take Note of this change. . .

We are now leaving Amsterdam tonight

Flying to NAIROBI

then to Kilimanjaro!!

Our Bloggers are TROOOOOOPERS!!

Tanzania. . .

I am headed to Tanzania on Friday for our next Compassion Bloggers Trip!

I am SO looking forward to this trip for countless reasons:

Its Africa

The bloggers ( ooooo just you wait)

The stories

Lovin on kids. . .

The list goes on!

I have been a bit more sentimental this week preparing because Tanzania was my FIRST trip with Compassion. And almost 8 years and many trips later it is my FIRST time back!!

8 years ago Gabe and I were well, younger ( see that pic below. . . HELLO! ahhh young’uns!! ) We had been married for a little over 3 months and we were invited to go to Tanzania with Compassion because of Gabe’s job. I was beyond thrilled and beyond nervous! Gabe had been on trips before but It was my first time overseas and I had no CLUE what to expect. It was an amazing experience! I had never seen poverty like that and I had never seen Hope and Joy like that simultaneously. It was the ultimate “Soul Shaker”. I had known about Compassion for some time, but seeing their work first hand forever changed me and forever lit a desire to do more!  When we got back I didn’t know what “more” was or what “more” would look like. I had just graduated College with a minor in Photography but searching for jobs in the music business was on my horizon. Emphasis on “MY”.  Photography was never what I had in mind.  And funny ( and awesome!) how God works. . .

A few months after that trip I got a call asking if I’d like to do photos on another trip and then that lead to another and then another. . .

That trip changed me it changed US.

{see getting a wee bit sappy over here}

So THIS Friday we are Tanzania bound. . .
